The Waves

The surfing in Las Flores includes point-breaks and beach-breaks. The point breaks in this region are volcanically formed headlands with a sandy bottom. Las Flores is a more remote location than La Libertad and there are some less crowded waves in the region.

Surf Seasons

March-May

This is the most consistent time of the year with clean, consistent waves from 4ft to 10 ft on average. During this period there are many days with good surf all day long. This is the end of the dry season, and the water temp is around 82F.

June-October

This is the time when El Salvador’s coastline gets the largest swells of the year, from 6ft to 12 ft, originating from winter storms in the South Pacific. The water temp is around 82F.

November-December

This is right after the rainy season and waves get a little smaller, usually with swells in the 4ft to 6ft range, but very clean and perfect waves peeling down the point. The water and temperature will drop a few degrees (78F) but still no wetsuit is needed. Offshore winds allow perfect surfing conditions all day long.

January-February

These are the less consistent months of the year. Waves get smaller (2ft to 5 ft), however the climate is perfect with cool evenings and bright sunny days. This is the perfect time of the year to learn how to surf or to score clean beachbreak peaks.
